Several years ago, while raising two kids in diapers on my own, I decided to return to school and finish the bachelor’s degree that I had started back in 2001.
This was a painfully redeeming process as I had carried for years the shame of dropping out of a prestigious private college in the South only to find myself living in poverty with two mouths to feed in addition to my own.
In our country, teachers are marginalized and disrespected, but I believe that can change. I’m passionate about sharing my experiences as an educator and encouraging other teachers to keep doing the work, no matter how thankless the job may seem.
